Muruga Polytechnic College was started in the year 1998. It is affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, to conduct Diploma Courses in Engineering (3years) vide G.O.M.S. No. 536 Dated: 5/4/79 and approved by AICTE, 1. Our Approval No. from All India Council for Technical Education is : 732 / 52 / 041 / ET / 1997.
2. Our Approval No. from Tamilnadu Government is : 27478 / J2 / 1997. The college offers Diploma Courses in Automobile, Mechanical, Computer, Civil, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Part Time) Courses.
Muruga Polytechnic College is located on the National Highway from Kallakuirchi to salem This campus located at Melur Village, is only 7km from Kallakurichi. The nearest railway station is located at Chinnasalem which is 10km away from the campus.
